Faire Play! Quick projects for Renaissance (or any) Faire

 I love the Renaissance Faire!

It is a great escape. It is one of the few times where I really feel like I can leave my troubles behind. Everything is different: the sights, the sounds, the food❤️❤️❤️

This year I made great use of my water/wine bottle sling bag. 

It is a simple crochet bag with an adjustable strap that can also be used for pins, trinkets, or even holding your glasses. I also had made a small cell-phone purse that I could loop over a belt. 

For the water/wine bottle sling:

Start with a magic ring and make a basic circle in single crochet, like for a coaster. The diameter should be about as big as the bottom of the container you would like it to hold.

Then do a few rows of double crochet for a nice tight lower level. 

Make several rows of netting (for lightness and stretchability).

Finish off with a couple rows of single crochet and a very long strap that is only attached at one end. The other end can then be adjustable!

For the Cell Phone Purse:

Make a chain that is as long as your phone is wide, with a little extra.

Use your stitch of choice to create a rectangle that is twice as long as you phone...with a little extra.

Seam the sides together (on the inside or "wrong side" of the purse).

Create a trap as long as you like. Mine was designed to be 4X as long as my widest belt is wide.

This way I was able to easily loop the cellphone purse over my belt even after it is on.

Now I am making a saddle bag version with enough room for a phone on one side and just enough room for a slim wallet for ID, passes, and a "magic" (credit) card.

For this I used my Sentro 22.

Cell Phone Belt Saddle Bag:

Cast on with waste yarn of a contrasting colors.

Knit 5-10 rows ending on peg 22 and change colors to your desired color.

Reset the counter.

Knit until the length of the tube is 2X the length of your phone + 2X width of your widest belt + 2X the width of a thin wallet for your ID and credit card.

Seam together the top. 

Seam together the bottom.

Seam the cell phone sides together.
Seam the wallet sides together.

The unseamed portion goes over your belt.
